Artwork by John Virtue

here are some more artists i have to blog about. I must document them in a way that relates to the way we have been working at college

This artwork is by an artist called John Virtue.
Finally there is an artist that i recognize as a strong connection with this task!

here we can see this artists has worked with ink, with a multitude of different sized brushed and tools to help him. this gives his work contrast, so, it dose not look all the same. he uses techniques that we have used, and i can relate to him because of that.

Artwork by Paula Rego

here are some more artists i have to blog about. I must document them in a way that relates to the way we have been working at college

This artwork is by an artist called Paula Rego
Rego was just a name one of our teachers gave out, and i have no idea how to relate her to this task, but hey.
anyway, i chose this piece by her because it looks interesting, and if that is not a hollow description, i don't know what is.

Artwork by Jim Dine

here are some more artists i have to blog about. I must document them in a way that relates to the way we have been working at college.

This piece is by an artists called Jim Dine.
i have chosen this work by him because:
he has studied the same object at different angels, drawn with a verity of lines, sizes, composition and texture.

this is what we have been doing at college.

Photography by

Now I have been given the task of writing a few blogs about some famous photographers.
Here i must list one, and select a work buy them with my opinion on it.

This photo is by a very famous photographer called Ansel Adams.
Ansel Adams is a very famous photographer and he is well know in the world of photography.

why have i chosen this photo by him then?
Well, i chose it because i like the lighting in it, i know most things look good in black and white but, this photo looks both crisp and soft in places which is pleasing to the eye, but also gives it something to look at.

Photography by Erwin Wurm

Now I have been given the task of writing a few blogs about some famous photographers.
Here i must list one, and select a work buy them with my opinion on it.

This photo is by Erwin Wurm.
Wurm is a very interesting photographer because he simply gives instructions to his audience to make the sculpture himself. this is done with objects or even other people. what makes him so interesting is that he lets his audience come up with what a sculpture is.

i have chosen this image above because we had a go at this in college and you would be surprised at how most (what seem simple poses and silly ideas) actually look artistic.

Photography by Martin Parr

Now I have been given the task of writing a few blogs about some famous photographers.
Here i must list one, and select a work buy them with my opinion on it.

Here is a photo by the photographer Marin Parr.

Why have i chosen this?

Well, because it made me chuckle.
i personally do not think it is a good photograph but i do like the theme.
the young woman and the old (rather fat) man showering together at the beach. it is almost a clash of worlds. many people who wish to look beautiful have very little time for whom they see as (ugly) so that is why i liked this photo.

Experimental Drawings by Picasso

I have now been given the task to write about three different artists who use experimental drawing as inspiration, or for any other way.
Experimental drawing is when you draw or do an initial sketch to gather up your first ideas

Here are a set of experimental drawings by Picasso.
we can see clearly that Picasso has played about with different ideas but for the same subject. they are all drawn differently and with different techniques.
Picasso was one of the most prolific artists ever, so to produce so much art, experimental drawing would have been a must for his work process!

Experimental Drawing by Peter Grey

I have now been given the task to write about three different artists who use experimental drawing as inspiration, or for any other way.
Experimental drawing is when you draw or do an initial sketch to gather up your first ideas.

This is the cover to a book by Peter Grey.
Grey outlines and teaches you how to draw and illustrate in this book.
when upon reaching the life drawing pages he shows us some experimental drawing done by him.
Here is what the pictures look like in general.

Here we can see Grey has experimented with a number of different angels and poses. this is what experimental drawing is about. to gather your ideas together for one final project.

Experimental Drawing by Robert Kaupelis

I have now been given the task to write about three different artists who use experimental drawing as inspiration, or for any other way.
Experimental drawing is when you draw or do an initial sketch to gather up your first ideas.

Here is the cover for a book by Robert Kaupelis.
this book was about experimental drawing.
I gather that Kaupelis is known for his drawing as he has written this book about it.
Experimental drawing is when you just draw basically to get ideas and inspiration.
it is often used with illustration and life art. it mostly looks like modern art, so, a little brash and crude here and there, but, not void of intelligence and ideas from the artist.

Art Work by Joe Scarborough

Now i have been given another task, to find three artists that use walking to aid their creative process.
Meaning, they go on a walk to gain ideas for their work. this can range from sights, sounds, feeling and all sorts of stuff, but ultimately, this all links back to one piece of work.

Here is a work by Joe Scarborough.
I do not know the name but i do know where it is.
Mill houses Park in Sheffield! (what the park used to look like in the 50's)

To gain inspiration for this painting Scarborough must have walked around the park many times, picking up ideas that he could incorporate into his work.

What are my views on this work.
Well, he is from Sheffield, so i like him allot. Putting our town on the map by ek!
From an artistic point of view though, i still like this work. the detail is what dose it for me. i can look at it, and many other arts by him and find something new to look at. i like that kind of art, so this, this is for the win!

Nature themed Art Work by Claudia Nice

Now i have been given another task, to find three artists that use walking to aid their creative process.
Meaning, they go on a walk to gain ideas for their work. this can range from sights, sounds, feeling and all sorts of stuff, but ultimately, this all links back to one piece of work.

This Art Work is by Claudia Nice, this was a water colour demo in her book (Creating Textured Landscapes with pen, ink and water colour.)

Nice is a very established artists and specializes in a number of mediums, although her main one is pen and ink with water colour. Her works are very good and again, if you ever need art advice or help, she has a number of books, DVDs and online tutorials to offer.
Nice often draws from nature, which means she walks and hikes to find inspiration for a painting.

Here are my views on this painting.
Well, i bought her book because it had this work on the front, so if that dose not say something then i don't know what will.
I do like her other work, and as she is a water colour artist i love learning from her books.

look her up as she too is a very talented artist and may have information that could help other artists too.

Nature themed Art Work by Geoff Kersey

Now i have been given another task, to find three artists that use walking to aid their creative process.
Meaning, they go on a walk to gain ideas for their work. this can range from sights, sounds, feeling and all sorts of stuff, but ultimately, this all links back to one piece of work.

Here is a piece of work by Geoff Kersay called: The Road From Stanton Lees.

there are no images that i can find of this work apart from this, and it is only because Kersay say's that he did this on a walk that i am writing about it. Kersay has done many other great water colours, and, as i primarily use water colours myself, i really like his work. Especially his tutorial books and DVDs

Anyway, what are my views on this piece of work by Geoff Kersay?
It is not one of my faverote works by him, but i certainly could not do any better myself.
I love the way he has done the grass on the left so softly, and the perspective of the great oak tree at the end of the road draws the eye inward to this painting.

Also the subtle lighting he as achieved is great! You can see this in most of his works as it is, but he has going it very well in this painting.
Anyway, look him up, if you need some help with water colour then his books and DVDs will really help you out, as they did with me.

Art Work by Shinro Ohtake

Here, i have decided to blog about this artist because i ran out of names on my list that i took from the list of artists. so instead i will write about another artist that i picked up a book about just the other day.

This piece by Ohtake is called Zen-Kei.
Shinro Ohtake is famed for his modernist style, which, looking at this work by him we can clearly see.
Here are my views on the work.
It looks very colorful, detailed and vibrant. I am sure if i were to see this in real life i would be captivated by all the little separate paintings on it. i do like art like this, especially when you can stare at something for a long time and still find things in it after hours of looking.
The face at the left almost seems to be surveying the whole piece and smiling with approval.
out of the other works i have blogged about, this must be one of my favorites.

Art Work by Damien Hirst

So, i have been given the task by my collage to make one or two blogs about some artists that they showed us. these artists have not been chosen by choice, just picked out of a group. here is one work out of their pictures out of the selection that i liked.

This piece is by Damien Hirst.
It is called The Promise Of Money.
I believe it is a real cow corpse with it's guts hanging out and there is money in it's guts.
(Just to let you know)

Anyway here are my thoughts about this work.

Firstly i do think the idea is a good one. it focuses on death and gives money a bad connotation.
But i would say that i do not like it. it is too gory for me and i can not but help and think about animal rights when i see this. it is frankly disgusting.

I must admit looking at some of the pictures of Hirst on goggle i can not help but think he is a bit of an over paid mad man.
I like his some of his works, but I'm sure the man could take a crap and call it art and then get money for it.
anyway that's my view.

Art Work by Sarah Sze

So, i have been given the task by my collage to make one or two blogs about some artists that they showed us. these artists have not been chosen by choice, just picked out of a group. here is one work out of their pictures out of the selection that i liked.

Here is a piece of work by Sarah Sze.
I have no idea what this was made with but it looks impressive. anyway, here are my thoughts about it.
I imagine that this piece is huge and must be a very awesome thing to see in real life. the complex parts interlocking with each other is something to behold indeed. it almost looks a mess, like that old mashed up bike you find in the shed once, and only seems to be in order when you get up close. This piece must be an architects dream as it seems very tactile and impressive for a sculpture. I would love to know how it was made!

Art Work by Cornelia Parker

So, i have been given the task by my collage to make one or two blogs about some artists that they showed us. these artists have not been chosen by choice, just picked out of a group. here is one work out of their pictures out of the selection that i liked.

After seeing some of Parker's work i decided to write about this one.
Most of the examples used by collage were of her Exploding shed and brass instruments
(Which were interesting and very skillful in their own right) but i searched her name and found this one instead.
I really like the idea about this piece.

It is so inventive. I love anything to do with nature and the rocks and stones look very tactile to me.
I love the way she has both, suspended them and given them depth by adding smaller rocks at the back and larger ones to the front. it gives the whole display a feel as if the path you are walking on is disintegrating before you.

It must have taken ages to hang each and everyone of those stones up to give it the lift it needs to be intriguing.

Look the artist up. Cornelia Parker had done some great sculptures like this where objects are suspended almost in movement, which all are pulled off to a dramatic effect.

Art Work by Francis Bacon,

So, i have been given the task by my collage to make one or two blogs about some artists that they showed us. these artists have not been chosen by choice, just picked out of a group. here is one work out of their pictures out of the selection that i liked.

Why did i choose this work by Bacon?
Well to be truthful it was the only example by him that i was given as reference.

Apparently this is a shot from an old Russian film, but i forget which one.
anyway, i do like this painting. it has depth. It is both creepy, but captures raw emotion.
I can remember having to study artists in GCSE and i chose Bacon, purely because i liked his work.

I remember my art teacher saying that she loved his work as he was able to paint and draw human faces like meat almost, flesh that was ready for the Butcher's mincing machine. I'll stop, probably making you feel ill.

But still. look Francis Bacon up and you will find a verity of works by him, many of them being interesting indeed.

Art Work by Hew Locke

So, i have been given the task by my collage to make one or two blogs about some artists that they showed us. these artists have not been chosen by choice, just picked out of a group. here is one work out of their pictures out of the selection that i liked.

So, why do i like this piece of work by Hew?
Well, i chose it because i like the theme. An old looking bronze statue of a knight or warrior looked interesting to me and it is intriguing to see such a powerful and dominate figure now draped in tat.
i do not say that insultingly.
Hew Locke is famed for making, and decorating famous people and objects with ordinary everyday items such as these.

I have seen work like this (Possibly by him) in the Graves Gallery in Sheffield. i must admit i did not think much of it then, but now, looking at this piece i do like his work.
Hew i famed for making another work like this of the Queen. If you are interested, type his name in and i bet you the first thing you will see (or read) will be about this piece.
